If you go to any hypnosis site you will find the option to download hypnotherapy or hypnosis cds or mp3 downloads. The big question is though do they work?

The answer is yes and no. Sorry about that but that’s the truth. They work for some people and not others. It does not matter who has recorded the disc the outcome will remain the same.

Let me explain. Hypnotherapy requires interaction between the hypnotherapist and the client. Hypnotherapy or hypnosis sessions are or should be based on information gained by the hypnotherapist from the client.

The session is a one off for that particular client, it is personal based on their specific needs.

If you visit a hypnosis site looking for a way to maybe help you lose weight or stop smoking downloading a cd may not help you. At best it will have a 50% chance of helping you.

The reason why is simple, when a hypnotherapist records these cds or downloads they are doing it with the best intentions. The problem is to do that they have to make general. In other words they can not target a certain individual.

So what’s the alternative? There are 2 ways around this.

1 Some hypnotherapists on line offer personalised cds made specifically for you. They do this by interacting with you, maybe by email or a questionnaire or even by one of the messenger chat programs such as msn or aol messenger.

2 A certain number of hypnotherapists are harnessing the internet to offer actual live hypnotherapy sessions using video and audio software.
This is like having the hypnotherapist visit you in your own home. For this to be successful you have to have a web cam so that the hypnotherapist can see you as they take you into hypnosis so they can visually monitor the signals being given off by your body.

Method 2 is by far the better of the 2 options and i have successful used this method on a number of occasions to help people. This has had the same success rate as if they had come to my practice in person.

By all means go ahead and download a hypnosis cd but be prepared that it may not actually work as well as it claims too.
