Phobias that many people suffer from can be learned from our peers. I know that may sound a bit silly to say, but just stop and think for a moment.

What happens is that when we are scared of something our children from a very early age will pick up on the anxiety being shown by us, and will also become scared themselves. What is happening is that the parent is teaching their child what to be scared of.

So what has this to do with weight loss?

Eating habits can become learned as well. How many of us can remember being told we had to eat all our dinner before we could have a pudding, or leave the table?  This learned habit of having to eat everything on a plate that is served to you is something that many people struggle with when losing weight.

Also by learning that a big meal needs to be followed by a pudding is something that becomes a normal part of every day for many people. Now imagine if you taught your children that after each meal they could have a piece of fruit that they like. Is this not a better way to start to teaching good eating habits?

Instead of teaching a child that they have to clear their plate before they can leave the table. A better option would be to serve them with half their normal sized portion that they have trouble eating, and explain that once they have eaten what they have on their plate, they can then have some more if they want it.

What I am doing here is not trying to give you a eating strategy for your children, or telling you how you should raise children. I am trying to show you that bad eating habits can be learned, and in time can result in helping to cause people to be overweight.

The problem with nearly all diets is that the diet does not take into account that you have to change a learned habit to ensure long term successful weight loss.

Weight Loss and Why Diets Fail

If you have battled with a weight problem, you have probably tried many different diets. The thing is that most diets have one thing in common with each other, and that is that they fail!

The truth is though, that most healthy diets will help you lose weight, so why do they fail us?

Well they don’t,  we fail the diets

What I mean by that is we give up on the diet because we get bored with it, or it does not work for us, or we cannot be bothered. The reason we give up on it, or get bored with it, is that unless we make readjustments to ourselves every diet you try will end in failure.

I am now going to explain something to you and don’t be surprised if this has an emotional effect, and make you reach for the tissues. I have had patients in my own practice who have broke down in tears, both men and women, once I have explained this to them.

Being overweight or fat is not your fault!

If you have had a weight problem since childhood you will have suffered the torment of being called fat, or lazy. You may even feel not to good about yourself and lack some self respect. I have also battled with my weight for a number of years so I know what you are going through.

I have done things that you do, like making sure that I am on my own when I eat some chocolate or candy. It is easy for others that have not had a weight problem to say losing weight is easy, and all you have to do is eat less. If only it was that easy we would all be our ideal weight.

So why is being fat not your fault?

When we are growing up we go through different stages of admiring our peers. You may have had an aunt, uncle brother, sister or parent that you had a very close, and to you, a very special relationship with.

Maybe that person was great fun to be with, or they treated you like an adult or maybe they made you feel special. You could also have adopted some of that persons characteristics or interests.

The reason for this is your own subconscious mind. The subconscious mind controls all our habits and basic needs and desires, and your subconscious always strives to make you happy.

Going back to that person that you looked up to, or had a close friendship or relationship with when you was young. Your subconscious mind would have realised that you was happier in their company, and to make you happier your subconscious mind may have thought if you are happy now,  imagine how much happier you would be if you were like that person.

So your subconscious reprograms your mind to make sure that you become like that person. Now here is the emotional bit if you have not figured it out already. If that special person was overweight your brain has been programmed to emulate that person, to be like that person, to be fat!

If this has happened it does not matter what diet you follow you will always fail until you get your own subconscious to realise that you will be much happier being less fat. Your own subconscious mind has been working against all your attempts to be less fat without you even being aware of it.

That is why it is not your fault that you are fat! So now is the time to get rid of all that guilt you have suffered from. It was not your fault!

By reprogramming the subconscious mind you can then get it on your side, and work with you to lose weight. This is easily done with hypnosis, and once that is done you will be surprised at how easy the weight comes off.

Weight loss with hypnosis will really make a huge difference to you.
